The trail connects with Long Trail in the northern section of the Green Mountain National Forest at Gilford Woods, then continues to the southern section, east of Bennington. It passes The Dome at 2748' entering Massachusetts at Clarksburg Recreational Area. |

![]() | Long Trail - Splitting from the Appalachian Trail at Gifford Wood, Long Trail winds 265 miles from the Massachusetts border north through the northern section of the Green Mountain National Forest . The trail passes through Brandon Gap, up past Gillespie Peak (3366') to Middlebury Gap, Lincoln Gap, and Mt Ellen at 4135 feet. Long Trail enters Camels Hump State Park passing over Camels Hump Mountain at 4083' on it's way to Mt Mansfield State Park and Underhill State Park . The trail continues its route through northern Vermont, reaching Canada near Highwater, offering some of the finest scenery New England has to offer! |
