The many national and state parks offer a variety of sights and services...hiking ..fishing..camping.. They are an excellent place to start an outdoor adventure..use as a homebase for camping and sightseeing...or have an afternoon picnic with family and friends!! The National Park Reservation Service offers a convienient way to check availability and make reservations!
The Cape Cod National Seashore - Eleven nature trails wind through the park, with sandy beaches and historic light houses. This is one of the last remaining natural sand dune beaches on the Atlantic Coast. There are Visitors Centers at Eastham and Provincetown. Fresh and salt water fishing oppertunities exist all along the Cape, from the largemouth and smallmouth bass in the ponds to the stripers and blues off shore.
Thirty islands are included in the Boston Harbor Island group, which are managed by a partnership including the National Park Service. Fishing, swimming, camping and picnic areas are available in the park. More information may be obtained from the National Park Service.
There are 16 historical sites connected by the 2.5 mile Freedom Trail through Boston and Charlestown, including the Bunker Hill Monument, Faneuil Hall, the Paul Revere House, ant the Old North Church. More information may be obtained from the National Park Service.
Situated on Salem's waterfront, 12 sites on 9 acres document the maritime role in the American Revolutionary War and the building of international trade. The visitors center is located in downtown Salem. More information may be obtained from the National Park Service.
Created in 1959, with 900 acres along the original Battle Road of April 19, 1775, Minute Man Memorial Park preserves sites associated with the opening battles for the American Revolution. The site includes the home of Nathanial Hawthorne, Louisa May Alcott, and Margaret Sidney. More information may be obtained from the National Park Service.
